Recently, as I contemplated the gift-giving of the American Christmas celebration, I began to think of the gifts those of us who have trusted in Christ for salvation have experienced. I don’t have time or space to list them all, but here are a few.
- Our position in Christ (Ephesians 1 & 2)
- Holy Spirit - comforting, counseling, correcting
- Fruit of the Spirit
- Security in salvation
- Hope for eternity
So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:14-16 NLT
Don’t you love the invitation to come boldly to the throne of grace? And the reason we can is that He is our high priest. Our relationship with God comes because Jesus paid the one acceptable sacrifice and because He serves as our high priest interceding for us.
As you come to the throne of Grace, first remember who God is (see separate post here) and then remember where you are in relationship with Him because of Christ.
I believe Ephesians 2 provides the most detail on our position in Christ in a single chapter of Scripture. I hope you will read it often. For quick reminders, I hope you’ll print this list and keep it in a place you can easily access.
When you realize your position in Christ with respect to who God is, you can’t help but approach boldly and pray powerfully.
Which of these descriptors causes you to worship the quickest?
